With the active support from the District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas district, the District Programme Office, ICDS, and the CDPOs of 3 (three) blocks (Patharpratima, Namkhana & Mandirbazar) of South 24 Parganas district, SSDC successfully implemented specific components of Kishori Shakti Yojana (KSY) during the month of March 2018. These components are –
(1) Vocational Skill Training for the senior adolescent girls of 16-18 years of age for their economic empowerment &
(2) Capacity building on Life Skill Education, Nutrition and Health Education, Adolescent reproduction and textual education.
Target Beneficiary – Adolescent Girls (11-19) Years; Both married and unmarried, preferably out of school.
Selection of participants – As per guideline, Adolescents Girls (AGs) were selected by Anganwari Workers (AWWs) from each Anganwari Centre (AWC) as group leader and assistant. Target was to train 300 AGs in 6 batches (50 girls in each batch) in each of 2 blocks, namely - Patharpratima, Namkhana and 150 AGs in 3 batches (50 girls in each batch) in Mandirbazar block.
